The Chairman called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Approval of Minutes from June 14 Meeting: MOTION to approve the minutes from the June 14, 2011 meeting as presented, MOVED by: J. Brophy; SECONDED: by: P. Ingellis; APPROVED: Unanimously.
Progress Report:
Bob Fish reported that Steve Gephard had published the last Fishway Report for the year, with a final countof 164 alewives passing through the Fishing Brook Fishway for the season. In addition, the seasonal total of eels counted at Fishing Brook was 23,795, the largest total in the state.
Action on Community Outreach:
The Commission discussed its desire to implement a program for communtiy outreach in partnership with the Old Saybrook Land Trust and others. The goal of this meeting was to form a team that would engage the Old Saybrook community in joint efforts at sustainable practices, such as good landscaping methods, energy conservation, local buying, recycling, defending our aquifer, and natural resource protection. Bruce Sherwin suggested using a wiki as a tool for reaching the community and volunteered to lead the effort. Bruce received enthusiastic support for his idea. It was decided to hold a special meeting on Tuesday, July 26, at 8:00 a.m. in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall to continue the effort.

The Commission adjourned at 7:40 p.m. until the next regularly scheduled meeting to be held on Tuesday, August, 9, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 2nd floor conference room, 302 Main Street.
